In 2016, the Village of Hinckley approved an ordinance allowing golf carts on village streets. 

The requirements are as follows:

  • Proof of current Insurance: Driver must carry proof of insurance with the vehicle.
  • Driver's License: Driver must have a current valid government issued driver's license
  • Age Requirement: Driver must be over the age of eighteen (18).

Required Equipment: Golf carts must be equipped as follows:

  • Seatbelts
  • Windshield
  • Turn Signals
  • Rearview Mirror 
  • Red reflectorized warning devices
  • A slow-moving emblem or triangular orange flag at the top of a six-foot pole on rear
  • A headlight that emits a white light visible from a distance of five hundred (500) feet from the front
  • Tail lamp that emits a red light visible from at least 100 feet from the rear and brake lights
